ARE WE WHAT WE WEAR?
We have all heard the famous quote, "You are what you eat." So now I am pausing the question, are we what we wear? Is your answer yes or no? It's totally up to you. However, allow me to help you dig for the ultimate answer to this tricky question.
Let's take the president as our example today. What If on Monday he starts off with a dashing suit. Tuesday he steps out with a pair of neat skinny jeans and a splitting white t-shirt. Come Wednesday, the President decides to groom his important self with a pair of shorts with an eye blinding colour, plain black rubber shoes and a baggy shirt with some writings engraved on it.
Keep in mind that those around him already began to whisper strange things due to his lack of dress ettiquette. What do you think I am trying to drive home? Even if he walked out in a shabby skirt today or topless, his intelligence, persona, and his position as head of state has not changed even an inch. We are not what we wear. Sure, I understand that image shows people about one's character, religion, attitude, fashion sense and a lot more.
Our clothes may make us look dazzling, approachable, hide who we really are on the inside and fashionable. However, there's one thing our clothes will never do for us. Not even as a favor. The clothes we love so dearly will never portray who we are. They will never speak for us and they most definitely won't tell our stories on our behalf. Unless they had mouths, which we all agree is far from possible.
So, don't let your clothes be your mask. Just be you and help yourself be you by allowing your clothes to be a part of you instead of making them be someone you are not. You can dress like a ship captain, a mad man/woman, slut, fashionista, but at the end of the day, you may have fooled the world, but you can never fool yourself. Be happy with who and what you are :)
