Quitting? It's allowed! Here's why.
You can't write about others, without being honest about yourself. You are reading an article written by the newest job quitter in the world.
Not that I'm completely ignoring the fact that I know there are plenty of people who have left their jobs due to one reason or another.
What's my reason of quitting you ask? Well...one word. EDUCATION!
At the age of 22 I have had 2 jobs. I loved the feeling of responsibility and the fact that something couldn't flow smoothly without my skills. It was great...fantastic I tell you. However, my former current job has a lot at stake. In the beginning, it was all flowery and pleasant. But as days, weeks and months passed by, everything fell like a burden.
Education was what opened my eyes. I am a part-time university student at a local university in Kenya. Classes begin at 5:00pm and end as late as 9:00pm. Don't get me wrong, I was so proud of balancing work and education...might I mention the money? Hehehehe It was lovely. But as much as everything was rosy and glossy, my education was at risk.
There are no words elephant enough to describe how passionate I am about education and my career. That's when I realized I had to drop something so that my life can still continue to make sense. I quit my job so that I could concentrate on my education.
Of course I feel slightly empty without my job, but I can tell you It's worth it. This is how Nelson Mandela surges into my life. He was compassionate about education and a good writer. At least we have one thing in common. Complete respect and admiration goes out to you Hon Madiba.
How many of you have quit something that was important to you and how did it affect or impact your life?
I and many others would love to hear from you. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/trending-now/
